Comment There is no economic growth only money printing (Score 1) 66

The Fed has already returned to Quantitative Easing (printing money to buy US government bonds). The US Economy is facing collapse like it has been since 2007. There is no growth in the economy, just share prices being pushed up by new money being pushed into the system. It's why cost of living is in a crisis. Only the wealthy are getting richer and they're doing it at the expense of the poor and middle classes. Watch gold and silver prices. The price of both is going to continue increasing as countries look to dump the US Dollar and hedge the inflation the Federal Reserve is creating.

Comment Cisco has the best AI strategy (Score 5, Interesting) 69

Went to Cisco Live, saw their AI strategy, none of it is generative AI, all of it is about making processes automated/more tools for administrators/users to leverage existing data sets. Everything Microsoft/OpenAI has done has felt like a solution looking for a problem. The Cisco AI tools look nothing like that. Active threat defence, using Splunk and AI to drill down and find people abusing networks and locking them out before automating the PIR write up. The tech demos were impressive as hell. They've also stated their AI processes have to be repeatable and predictable unlike OpenAI's generative mess.

Comment Re:People Hate Science (Score 0) 213

I don't think people hate science but they should and do hate when scientists abuse their position for personal gain. Perfect example: Michio Kaku. This guy's background is in Theoretical physics yet he goes on and talks out of his ass about AI, Computers and the techno-rapture. It's ridiculous. You wouldn't ask a mechanic about your house's electrical work what the hell would a theoretical physicist know about microchip design/trends in computing? There has been zero evidence that AGI is about to exist and the people hyping it up are frauds.

Comment Re:Too much of Quantum/Modern Phsics is unprovable (Score 1) 213

A great example of this is the theory that the universe is a 4-Dimensional particle falling into a black hole in a 4-Dimensional Universe. As it falls it's undergoing spaghettification. This neatly explains the Inflation at the start of the universe, and even explains the heat death/giant rip theory of universe death as it suggests the entire universe will convert into Hawking radiation and evaporate off over time. It's a neat idea. But it's not science. There's no way to prove that this is what's happening. At best it's an untestable hypothesis.

Comment Re:Good. Steam is a CHILDREN FRIENDLY platform. (Score 2) 123

This is about finance throwing it's weight around and is a great argument as to why cash remains critical in the global economy. We don't need central control busy-bodies getting into everyone's lives trying to force people to conform to their vision of what is right and wrong.

I Live in Australia, BYD is everywhere. The cars are popular and we are not heading about defects. There are so many of the cars around we'd be hearing about it. I drive a Mitsubishi Lancer. Japanese cars are still the preferred choice. BMW/Mercedes are still seen as the highest end (outside of ferrari/lambo etc).

Comment I'm using it for Open Source Programming (Score 2) 248

I'm making years of progress in minutes, developing tools for open source game development. Asset viewers, asset editors etc. ChatGPT can output a 3D model viewer in seconds when you tell it what API you want to use. My API of choice has been Gtkmm-3.0. I describe the UI I want, usually with a tree view or canvas view. Once I've defined the UI, I define what content I want in it and the system generates it. It is working incredibly well. I've also developed a working Audio control panel for GNUstep that seamlessly integrates into SystemPreferences.app and wrapping pipewire, next will be Network-Manager and and Wayland-randr/X11-Randr Control Panels for monitor setup. It's bringing the dream of a Mac-Like open source desktop closer to reality.
